Video Segment. Series: "In Focus: Justice." International Development Law Organization (IDLO).
"In Focus: Justice" is a photo exhibition and series of videos about the rule of law and sustainable development in Afghanistan, Kenya, India, Brazil and Canada. The show premiered at UN headquarters in Geneva on March 2, 2015 and will be traveling to European and US venues throughout 2015-16.
Helen Garrett and Steven Lawrence of Yerosha were hired by Judit Arenas, Director, Communications and Public Affairs for the IDLO, to help develop and manage this project, which features the work of 5 outstanding photographers: Kabir Dhanji, Shehzad Noorani, Farzana Wahidy, Lucas Lenci, and Vicky Roy. The photos and exhibition were curated by Shahidul Alam of Majority World in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The video pieces Lawrence created are based on interviews he did with each of the photographers, coupled with their photos and b-roll of them filmed while on assignment. This sample segment, Darkness Into Light, is about Kabir Dhanji and his documentation of energy poverty in Kibera and Mathare, the large slums of Nairobi.
