The Furious Force of Rhymes

Feature Documentary. Arte/Link TV/Smithsonian Channel/YLE.

"The Furious Force Of Rhymes" tells the story of how hip-hop traveled from the Bronx to become the protest music of today in France, Germany, Israel-Palestine and Senegal. Steven Lawrence came on board as producer after seeing an inspiring demo by director/DP Joshua Atesh Litle based on footage he'd shot in NYC and Senegal. Steven brought in Les Films d'Ici (Paris) and YLE as co-production partners, then brokered a deal with Smithsonian Channel for US cable TV rights. With a leading French production company committed, Arte joined as a co-producer, completing financing. In addition to critically acclaimed broadcasts in France, Germany, Finland and the US, FFOR was an official selection at over 20 film festivals including SXSW, Abu Dhabi and Locarno, where it won the Special Jury Mention award.
